New video points to terror after Bush victory: Drudge
A video purportedly showing an Al-Qaeda operative in the United States threatening further attacks on the country should Americans re-elect George Bush, says the Drudge Report.
The tape was obtained by ABC News and is being authenticated by American officials. The video shows a man in a headdress who calls himself "Azzam the American" who says he is an Al-Qaeda operative in the United States. He promises more attacks on the American homeland and, according to Drudge, links attacks to the outcome of Tuesday's Presidential Election.
Only part of the 75-minute tape is available for viewing on ABCNews.com and the network makes no reference to any threat associated with the re-election of Mr. Bush, so I cannot say if the threat is actually there. However, it would not be the first time Al-Qaeda has attempted to influence the result of an election. Earlier this year the terror group launch attacks on trains in Madrid in the days running up to the Spanish election. It is generally believed the attacks resulted in the defeat of the Spanish government at the polls.
