Another reason to drop Hotmail
Do you use Outlook or Outlook Express to access your Hotmail account? If you do, you might want to start looking for a new provider. Starting this week Microsoft, operator of Hotmail, is forcing new account registrants to pay extra for the feature (called WebDAV) that allows Outlook users to access their email through that program rather than the Web. In the next few months, existing users will be asked to pay a $19.95 fee to keep the feature on their accounts and it is expected everyone who wants it will be paying by next April.
'Soft says it is trying to stop spammers who have been using WebDAV to fire off tens of thousands of emails in rapid succession. So, as usual, everyone is paying for their bad behaviour.
