I want a bus!
I don't know if you've noticed, but everybody has a "bus" for this election campaign. Gilles Duceppe has a bus, so does Stephen Harper. Paul Martin and Jack Layton also have buses.
But this is not unusual. What's new for this election are the buses that are criss-crossing the country an behalf of the television networks. So you have Mark Kelly going from east to west on the CBC's bus (actually it's an RV, but that's not the point) and Kevin Newman going from west to east. Then there is the CTV bus that started in Ottawa and is heading east before doubling back and going west.
So buses are the "in thing" for this campaign and being an "in" cat I thought that I too could travel the nation on a bus in search of interesting election mewsings. But no, my humans won't make the arrangements. I hate it when they become uncooperative! (They say it's because I tend to scream and wail when in moving vehicles, but that sounds like an excuse to me.)
That being said, I have to wonder what these buses are designed to accomplish. On Tuesday, Kevin Newman interviewed a couple of folks from small-town BC. Neither of them was able to give a coherent answer to his questions and viewers really learned very little that is new.
So, why does everybody have a bus? Well, I suppose it's because everybody else does. After all, that's why I want one!
