Tories lead The Star's straw poll
This can't be right.
Toronto Star's online readers currently have the Conservatives as their preferred government. According to their straw poll, 45% would vote Conservative, 23% for both the Liberals and the NDP, while 5% support the Greens. More than 1700 people have voted.
I suppose it is possible that the Conservatives have had everyone in their national campaign office vote, but, this is The Star. The newspaper that was little more than a campaign pamphlet for the Liberals in the last provincial election.
The moral of the story for media webmasters is that online polls aren't worth the bandwidth. But they are all doing it.
In other online polls, Paul Martin leads Stephen Harper as the leader who can best protect health care (canada.com); 86% of Globe and Mail online readers say they will vote on June 28th; 65% say minority governments are a good thing (CTV.ca); and 80% of visitors to Pulse24.com say taxes are the most important election issue.
