Tech on the Trail
As Canada's political parites gear up for an election, the media are doing the same. The National Post and Global TV have teamed up with the wireless phone companies to get your views on the election via your text-enebled cellphone.
The Post and Global National will send questions to the phones of people who register to be contacted. They will report on the results of those "polls" the next day.
You can be sure that the major political parties already have their operatives signing up in the hope of skewing the results in their favour. If you want your voice heard, register at Voxpoll or send a text message from your phone to: VPOLL (87655) with the word 'vote' in the message body.
You will also be able to text-message the political parties with your questions and get a response on your phone. Here are their text 'short codes':
Conservative Party: TXTCPC (898272)
Green Party: TXTGRN (898476)
Liberal Party: TXTLIB (898542)
New Democratic Party: TXTNDP (898637)
Next thing you know, a walking, talking Blackberry will be canvassing on behalf of your local candidate!
