McGuinty's Secret Plan II
The Preem sent his Finance Minister out to talk to the hordes of ravenous media today. He wanted Greg Sorbarra to put an end to the continued speculation around the proposed "Coffee Tax" (see yesterday's mewsing). [Liberal spin doctors are still calling it a "fat tax" despite the fact that it is hard (at less than $4) to get enough food to consider it unhealthy.]
Sorbarra's "non-denial denial" of the plan to tax your morning coffee and bagel will do nothing to bring the controversy to an end, though. Which means one of three things:
1) McGuinty is going to impose a Coffee Tax;
2) McGuinty is hoping that when the Coffee Tax does not appear in the provincial budget, you'll all thank your lucky stars and miss some other massive tax grab he'll impose; or
3) (and this is very machiavellian) McGunity will impose the Coffee Tax and use the contraversy as cover for another, more lucrative Liberal tax grab.
