Mess in the Middle East
Dubya's spent the last two weeks on the defensive over his pre 9/11 policy on terrorism. His team has just made a major political climb-down and decided to let the National Security Advisor to testify in public hearings. Just when you thought things couldn't get worse...
...They have. It looks as though the American-led occupying forces in Iraq are back at war with a wannabe government led by Moqtada al-Sadr, a Shiite Muslim cleric. He has a well armed force at his disposal and thousands of devout followers. And he chose to let them loose this weekend, declaring a Holy War on the United States. 32 coalition soldiers had died by last night with fighting continuing.
You get the feeling George can sense the White House slipping from his fingers.
