Love... Ain't it grand!
Some of us have been guilty of doing crazy things to get close to the ones we love. Others have done outright dangerous things. But a komodo dragon at the London Zoo went to great heights to get to the object of her affection.
Nina was a new resident of the zoo and was separated from a male komodo (Raja) by an 8-foot wall. Zoo staff had kept the two apart to allow them to get used to each other.
Nina couldn't wait though and managed to scale the wall only to fall to her death in an attempt to get to her beloved Raja.
The zoo says Nina's actions were "spontaneous and out of character" for komodos but admits it didn't anticipate the agility of the reptiles.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is blaming zoo officials for the fall saying the zoo didn't take the biological needs of the komodos into account when designing the enclosure.
Zoo curator David Field is promising a complete investigation into the tragedy.
Here's the story from the Beeb.
