da Vinci team to launch in the Fall

Yesterday, the SpaceShipOne team, which launched the first successful privately funded visit to space, announced it will make an attempt at the X-Prize in 60 days.

The X-Prize was inspired by the Orteig Prize that prompted Charles Lindbergh to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. To claim the prize, a competitor must make two successful launches of the same vehicle able to carry three people into space. "Space" is considered to be 100 kilometres from the surface of the earth and the two launches must occur within two weeks.

Canada's da Vinci Project is also close to a launch and expect to make their attempt this Fall. They will unveil their rocket to the public next week.

This all so exciting! I wonder if there is room for me on one of the flights?
